Synopsis
Join the teenage witch Raven and the teenage demon hunter Ozias as they fight to survive inside of a warped and reality-defying Carnival organised by the one and only Outer God Nyarlathotep!
The Carnival of Nyarlathotep is a multi-file epic that pushes the revered 1991 ZZT engine to its very limits. Taking place in a lush cosmos, the Maculaverse, inspired by everything from the works of H.P. Lovecraft, to folklore from all over the world, to 90s popular culture of all sorts, to theoretical physics, and beyond.
This game is meant to be THE definitive introduction to the rich cosmos that's been continuously marinating and evolving in my head for over the past decade, as a stepping stone to the now-quite-ambitious upcoming Macula's Maze. The Maculaverse is meant to be a truly unique cosmos where the only certainty is that whatever's around the next corner is something you'd never expect.
In Part 1 of 2:
 Ride the Eye of Kadath, a Ferris wheel that spins in more than just the conventional three dimensions, in order to visit other worlds!
Visit Avenir Avenue, a bizarre amalgamation of different possible futures which hosts Nyarlathotep Tower - a hulking skyscraper that serves as the business and financial capital of the underworld on Earth!
Explore Bunnyvale, U.S.A., the eerie all-American 90s town that exists as a hazy dreamscape following its own twisted rules, and the site of a bizarre experiment by its Mayor, Nyarlathotep himself!
Meet and interact with a cast of colourful and exotic entities from across a colourful 'steady state omniverse', ranging from the ever mysterious Macula, to the terrifying Nyarlathotep, to various early 90s PC gaming icons, to vibrant Maculaverse factions such as Asteria and the Invisible Hand.
